Atobi vs Relesys: Retail Activation platform comparison
Last updated

Relesys and Atobi are both Scandinavian platforms serving retail frontline staff, and they are most often compared in the Nordics. Relesys is an employee communication and engagement platform a company runs for its own workforce, and Relesys is the better-looking product. Atobi is a retail activation platform built to work across the brand-retailer boundary. On internal communication and engagement the two are functionally close, and the honest difference there is presentation rather than capability. The real divergence is elsewhere: whether the brands you carry can fund and run activation with your staff, and whether a brand can reach staff inside retailers it does not own. Relesys does neither.
Atobi and Relesys compared
Dimension | Relesys | Atobi |
|---|---|---|
Primary buyer | The company, for its own employees | Retailer and brand, on the same store floor |
Visual flexibility and finish | Stronger. More control over branding, layout and look, and a more polished result | Functional, less configurable, less visually refined |
Internal communication and engagement | Purpose-built and strong | Functionally comparable. We have not found a capability here that Relesys has and Atobi does not. The difference is how it looks, not what it does |
Brand reaching staff at retailers it does not own | No | Yes, built for it |
Campaign execution with proof from the floor | Limited | Photo proof and completion, per store |
Brand-funded activation as a retailer revenue line | No | Yes. Store staff as a monetisable media asset, and an input to trade term negotiations |
Where Relesys is stronger
Relesys gives you more control over how the platform looks. Branding, layout and visual configuration are more flexible than Atobi’s, and the result is a more polished product. That is a real advantage and we are not going to talk you out of it. In a selection process it often carries weight, because visuals speak directly to the buyer and to the marketing team.
Be clear about what visual polish does and does not drive, though. A better-looking app is not what makes store staff open it every day. Staff open the app they have to open to do the job well. Adoption follows necessity, not polish. If this week’s campaign, tasks and proof live in the platform, the platform gets opened. If they live somewhere else, a beautiful interface will not rescue it.
Where Atobi is stronger
Relesys is built for one organisation talking to its own people. Atobi is built for two organisations working the same store floor.
For a multibrand retailer that difference is commercial, not operational. The brands you carry can fund and run activation with your staff on the platform you already use, which turns the reach you have into your own frontline into a monetisable media asset and an input to trade term negotiations. Every other platform in this category is a cost line. Atobi can be a revenue line. For a brand, the difference is simply between reaching store staff and not reaching them at all.
Frequently asked questions
Atobi or Relesys: which should a Nordic retailer choose?
For internal communication and engagement with your own employees the two are functionally close, and Relesys is the better-looking product with more control over branding and layout. If you also want the brands you carry to fund and run activation with your store staff, and you want campaign execution with proof from the floor, that is what Atobi is built for. The question is whether the problem stays inside your own organisation.
Does Relesys work for brands reaching retail partners?
No. Relesys is built for a company communicating with its own workforce. Reaching staff employed by a third-party retailer is a different problem, involving an agreement between two companies rather than an employment relationship.
